Post 7: A Great Language Arts Link!

The website Game Zone offers a ton of great websites which encourage strong language skills. By surfing over to, http://www.english-online.org.uk/games/vocabblock.htm, you will find a great game called The Vocabulary Jungle! The object of the game is to find a path through the jungle by finding common words. First, start by selecting a word theme on the left side of the box. When you click it, it will turn red, which means you are ready to play!

Try it out and have fun!

This game allows us to fine tune our Language Arts skills. The Language Arts Curriculum expects us to, 3.3. Confirm spellings and word meanings or word choice using different types of resources appropriate for the purpose.

Enjoy!

Post 6: A Great Science Link

This year we will be doing a Science Unit on animal habitats. To prepare our minds for the unit I found a great interactive website game called Survival Zone created by the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation).

Students and parents alike should know that this activity relates to a Curriculum Expectation which we will learn in our unit. In the science curriculum, under the Life Systems: Habitats and Communities, expectation 1.2 states, "Students will investigate the dependency of plants and animals on their habitat and the interrelationships of the plants and animals living in a specific habitat."

How long can you survive in the habitat? Try it Out!

Post 5: A Super Great Math Link

Greetings Grade 4 Class!

Geometry is my favorite kind of math to learn and teach! I stumbled upon this great website that is a neat way to practice measuring and recognizing angles. Try it out and practice your angle knowledge!

The page is offered through Compass Learning: http://www.compasslearningodyssey.com/sample_act/math3_4/MA3CA02a_Right_Back_preloader.swf

Using online activities is a great way to practise any skills we learn in class! Check the edublog for more cool links!

This activity relates to our Math Curriculum expectation 3.1: Students will identify quadrilaterals and three-dimensional figures and classify them by their geometric properties, and compare various angles to benchmarks.

Until Next Time!
